Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld star in the new hawkeye disney+ series on Disney+. The show is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars Hawkeye aka Clint Barton training Kate Bishop to become the next generation of Avenger heroes. The show is currently streaming on Disney+ and it’s a great way to spend some time with a familiar character and get to know a young up and coming one at the same time. The show has some good comedy and a decent amount of action but it’s the interaction between the two leads that makes it special.
During the San Diego Comic Con in 2019, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased a series about Clint Barton and his apprentice, Kate Bishop. It was later revealed by Feige that the limited series would be titled Hawkeye and that Jeremy Renner will be reprising his role from the MCU films. The series started streaming on November 24 and it’s available to watch on any device that has a Disney+ account.
The first two episodes of the series give viewers a feel for how the story will unfold and they don’t disappoint. The story centers around a veteran hero and his rookie protege and the two of them interact and work well together. The humor is spot on and the action keeps you engaged throughout. There are some serious moments as well, which is a welcome change of pace.
As the season progresses, the story focuses more on the relationship between Kate and Clint. The writers do a good job of making the show feel fresh by giving them new adventures and new situations to face. They don’t just rehash old events like some other MCU shows tend to do. The story also focuses on the past of both characters and how it affects them today.
It’s hard to tell whether the rest of the season will live up to its first two episodes but it definitely has potential. The story may take some time to find its footing but it’s worth a watch.
