Hawkeye has some pretty outlandish arrows at his disposal, from the ones that explode to those that are made of goo. This third episode of the Disney+ series “Hawkeye” continues to expand his arrow arsenal, but one arrow in particular isn’t doing its job quite as well as it should be.
The USB arrow
There’s an odd moment in the third episode of “Hawkeye” where Kate Bishop suggests that she’d like to use a USB arrow to hack into their enemies’ computers. While the suggestion might seem a bit ridiculous, it actually proves to be quite useful when they find themselves trapped inside a house where there are a ton of computers.
The arrow can be used to remotely hack into the computers in their possession, allowing them to send information back and forth between the two sides of the battle. It’s a handy way to keep track of the enemy, and it’s particularly helpful when Kate’s trying to contact her son, Nate, over the phone.
It can also be used to communicate with her husband, Clint Barton, who’s currently locked in a car that’s being chased by the Tracksuit Mafia, and it might help them escape. It’s a bit of a joke at the time, but it might just be a sign that the show is setting itself up to delve deeper into the arrows’ potential uses in future episodes.
Onto-grabber arrow
Similar to the grappling hook arrow and zipline arrow, this arrow releases high-tension cables on impact and latches onto objects around it, pulling them in toward the arrow. It’s a good way to distract opponents while evading them, and it’s one of the few arrows that we’ve seen that can work on something other than humans so far.
This arrow is also useful when chasing down the Tracksuit Mafia, since it can help them drop their stoplights and drive faster. It’s not quite as versatile or effective as some of the other arrows on this list, but it’s still a neat trick that doesn’t require much of a skill set.
Acid arrow
This arrow has a wide range of uses, ranging from piercing through doors to ejecting a large amount of poisonous liquid. It can even be used to eat through armor, which is why Kate uses it to break into the car she’s driving in the first place.
It’s also a great arrow to have in your arsenal for when you’re fighting in the open, because it can be used to fend off the enemies that surround you, such as the Christmas trees in the scene below. It might not be as powerful or as specialized as some of the other arrows on our list, but it’s still a very effective tool that will help save Clint and Kate’s lives in the future.
The boomerang arrow
In addition to the arrows that have been used so far, “Hawkeye” also introduces some new types of arrows in its second episode. The first type shoots out hundreds of small, needle-like metal shards that bury themselves in the bodies of any attackers it comes into contact with. The second type is a tranquilizer arrow, which can neutralize a group of mafia members with just one shot.
