The hawkeye quiver
As anyone who’s watched a hawkeye movie can attest, Clint Barton carries around quite the collection of arrows. He has a wide variety of specialized arrows that allow him to do things with his bow that wouldn’t be possible with a regular arrow.
These specialized arrows make up one of the most interesting parts of hawkeye’s deck, with each allowing for a different way to attack. They also help to counter some of the problems that can arise when playing hawkeye. For example, there are a number of ally-related cards in the hawkeye starter deck that have a hard time balancing against his resource constraints (playing allies, shooting arrows). This card is a great way to overcome this issue.
By searching the top five cards of your deck for an ally, you can attach them to your hawkeye quiver and play them as if they were in your hand. This allows you to build up a stockpile of allies for Hawkeye, and it can help ensure that you can always play a hero when needed. It’s a great card that makes hawkeye much more reliable and worth aggressively mulliganing for.
Each arrow in the hawkeye quiver requires you to exhaust his bow as a cost, which can limit your use of them. However, there are some arrows that have other unique effects that can make them worthwhile. For example, the sonic concussion arrow can release a three-beat sonic blast on impact that throws back opponents at close range. This arrow was used by Kate Bishop to hold off the Tracksuit Mafia in a car chase.
Other arrows in the hawkeye quiver include the zip line and the data arrow. The former can be positioned at two surfaces on opposite ends of the shaft, and then the end of the bow releases micro cables that connect to them, allowing you to travel from one surface to the other. The latter can be aimed at a computer input, which Hawkeye used to shut down the SHIELD Helicarrier and upload a virus into a HYDRA bunker, as well as the Ultron Sentry that killed him.
In addition to these arrows, there are also some specialized cards that you can add to your hawkeye quiver to make him more effective. For example, the bolo arrow can wrap around legs and cause them to trip. This can be an invaluable tool when you’re fighting a tough enemy that requires multiple attacks to take down.
This card has the added benefit of piercing, which can be great against enemies that have Tough, such as Madame Hydra or Tiger Shark. It’s an excellent card that can provide some nice extra damage for the price of two resources, and it is certainly worth a look.
