In the sixth season of “Supernatural,” Hawkeye yells at Radar, an intoxicated man who is incapable of driving and unable to operate a gun. This episode was written by Alan Alda and won the comedy writing Emmy for its humorous characterization. It shows Hawkeye’s frustration at being a sub-par gunfighter and his subsequent rage at Radar.
In the ensuing episodes, Hawkeye continues to yell at Radar, calling him a ninny, and other members of the camp give him a piece of their mind. While Radar is angry, Hawkeye offers him some money, which he uses to buy some beer. But this time, Hawkeye doesn’t want to buy the bottle of beer; he only wants a Grape Nehi.
Hawkeye apologizes to Radar, who is hurt by the words. In the following scene, Hawkeye tells Radar that he will take over the role of Winchester if something were to happen to him. The scene ends with Radar and Col. Potter exchanging insults and swears at each other. After the episode, everyone else in the camp also gives Hawkeye a piece of their mind.
Radar continues to be disappointed in Hawkeye. He yells at Radar, calling him a ninny. The two men fight and eventually win. While Winchester tries to convince Radar that Hawkeye is the same man he was when he looked up to him, the two men end up fighting and yelling at each other for the second time.
In the following scene, Hawkeye yells at Radar, who is a drunken man. He apologizes to Radar and the other staff for hurting him. They both go to Rosie’s Restaurant to have a beer and grape nehi. In the scene, Hawkeye apologizes to Radar, calling him a ninny for hurting him.
During this scene, Hawkeye is still yelling at Radar. He is angry at Radar for hurting him, but he doesn’t understand that the man’s words have more than one meaning. Moreover, Radar has no memory of what Hawkeye has said to him, which means he’s not sure why he’s being a ninny.
In the next scene, Hawkeye is upset and regretful about his mistake. He yells at Radar, causing the doctor to panic. The officer is furious and shouts at him. The incident causes both men to feel guilty. Afterward, they go to the Swamp to drink, where they meet Colonel Potter. Meanwhile, Hawkeye is shocked that he is afraid of Radar.
The second episode of the series begins with a flashback of a scene in which Hawkeye is rescuing Radar. During the first episode, Hawkeye and Radar have been working together for two weeks, but the two still had to stop to rescue a lamb. This is a typical misunderstanding for the two characters. In the next episode, he gets a letter from the surgeon asking for help.
