Hawkeye Vs Deadpool Review

One of the stranger cross overs to hit Marvel’s lineup of movie based comics was hawkeye vs deadpool. The unlikely pairing brings together two of the more recognizable faces in the company to work on a Hallowe’en case that could prove quite deadly. It’s a good mix of humor and rampant action that should please fans of either character.

Gerry Duggan pens this mash up, and he does it very well. This isn’t about bringing Deadpool into Hawkeye’s world or Clint into Wade’s, instead it’s about merging them into a story that uses the best of both. Duggan ties the whole thing up with a nice mix of high velocity humor and action, but he also keeps a lot of the seriousness of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s current state and Black Cat consolidating her power in New York into the narrative as well.

The art in this book is great as well. Matteo Lolli and Jacopo Camagni do a fantastic job of blending their styles to bring this whole thing to life. There is the subtle tone of the art from Hawkeye’s stand alone series but there is a wild energy in the artwork that makes it more in line with the wacky humor of Deadpool. It’s a nice change of pace for the character who was so beaten down in Matt Fraction’s run.

This is a good start to the mini series and it definitely sets the stage for more. It’s a solid mix of what you expect from both characters and it works as a story that can be read on its own or as a part of the larger crossover narrative. It may not be the mash up that some people were hoping for but it’s still a fun read and definitely worth checking out.

The team up of Hawkeye and Deadpool in this Hallowe’en based mystery is really good. It’s got all the ingredients of both characters and the winning combination of characterization, humor and action make it something that is really enjoyable to read. It’s a fun read that should please fans of both characters and for a mash up it’s one of the better ones to come along in a while. I definitely recommend checking this out if you’re a fan of either or both characters. It’s a great way to spend your Hallowe’en.
